Where we are at.
Unbiased
Running such a CSR audit is time-consuming and needs impartiality. For over a year, F-ONE and MANERA collaborated with “Utopies”, a French agency founded over 30 years ago that helps companies improve their impact on the environment.
Upon granting them full disclosure on our activities, Utopies conducted a rigorous examination of our carbon footprint. The various aspects of our operations were meticulously analyzed, and we were able to identify specific areas where we can enhance our environmental performance.
METHODOLOGY
The original audit analyzed data from 2021.
The activities of F-ONE and MANERA have been considered on two levels: the product’s life cycle and the corporate services.
Product’s life cycle
Includes data from raw materials, factories/manufacturing, freight and transport, distribution, use, and waste/end-of-life
Corporate services
Includes data from warehouses, heardquarters, and marketing / digital footprint.
In the former, six different areas were analyzed:
And regarding the corporate services :
RESULTS
84% of our CO² emissions come from our supply chains:
41
31
12
Rounding out the top five, the next sources of emissions are the products’ end-of-life and our headquarters, accounting for 7% and 6% of our emissions respectively.
Raw material
Polyester is the material with the highest emissions for F-ONE, accounting for 26% of raw material emissions.
Manufacturing and finishing
The manufacture of apparel and wings is more carbon-intensive than the manufacture of boards. Within apparel and wing manufacture, finishing has the greatest impact (84%).
Let’s look at a full wing foil setup, which generated 268 kgs of CO2e.
These numbers are more than stats.
They are a roadmap for change. This audit propels F-ONE and MANERA towards a more responsible and ethical future. These findings help us reconsider the way we’ve been conducting business until now, and establish concrete objectives and action plans.
