AUDIT

Unbiased

Running such a CSR audit is time-consuming and needs impartiality. For over a year, F-ONE and MANERA collaborated with “Utopies”, a French agency founded over 30 years ago that helps companies improve their impact on the environment.
Upon granting them full disclosure on our activities, Utopies conducted a rigorous examination of our carbon footprint. The various aspects of our operations were meticulously analyzed, and we were able to identify specific areas where we can enhance our environmental performance.

METHODOLOGY

The original audit analyzed data from 2021.

The activities of F-ONE and MANERA have been considered on two levels: the product’s life cycle and the corporate services.

In the former, six different areas were analyzed:

1

Materials

This category looked at all raw and other materials involved in the fabrication of a product, e.g. carbon fiber, polyester, neoprene, fiberglass, cotton.
2

Manufacturing and factories

This category looked at everything pertaining to the manufacturing of products (e.g. spinning, weaving, knitting, finishing processes) as well as the factories themselves (e.g. energy, waste, packaging).
3

Freight

This category looked at the transport of raw materials to the factories, as well as the transport of the finished products from the factories to the French ports and airports, and from there to the F-ONE/MANERA warehouse.
4

Distribution

This category looked at upstream and downstream transportation in our distribution network, so transport of the finished products from the factories to the distributors’ warehouses, and from the warehouses to the shops/clients.
5

Use

This category looked at the product use, e.g. wash or rinse, use of cleaning products.
6

Waste and end-of-life

This category looked at waste and the end-of-life of the final packaging and each final product.

And regarding the corporate services :

1

Warehouse

This category looked at packaging as well as energy consumption of French warehouses.
2

Headquarters

This category looked many aspects related to F-ONE’s and MANERA’s headquarters, such as business travels, commuting, water and energy consumption, supplier expenses, or waste.
3

Marketing / Digital Footprint

This category looked at all print and digital marketing, as well as “offline” marketing such as goodies and POS displays.

RESULTS

84% of our CO² emissions come from our supply chains:

41

Comes from the materials we use in our products, especially raw materials like polyester and carbon.

31

Comes from manufacturing, particularly relating to finishing processes.

12

Is from freight, from the factory to the French ports and airports, before making their way to our main warehouse in southern France.
Rounding out the top five, the next sources of emissions are the products’ end-of-life and our headquarters, accounting for 7% and 6% of our emissions respectively.
